Roomex.com – Introduction – January 2007Quick Facts :
  • Roomex.com and its network of affiliates generated over €250k worth of Irish Hotel bookings in each month from May to December 2006
  • The Roomex.com network has over 250,000 visitors per month
  • The Roomex.com Special Offers monthly mailing list is now being sent to over 10,000 subscribers
  • The Roomex network of websites and affiliates include, Roomex.com, Webtrade Hotels , www.webtrade.ie/ireland-hotel.asp , Georgina Campbell Guide  www.Ireland-Guide.com ( only if you are one of their recommended establishments ) , IrishGuideLive.com network of 40 Local Irish Websites , Surf.ie , IrishFisheries.com. In May 2006, we started to roll out a new network of local sites around Ireland, giving more focused information on hotels in particular areas together with integration with Google mapping. See www.Dublin-Airport-Hotel.ie for example and the full list can be seen on the Links pages of these sites. The great thing from your hotel’s point of view is that once you give your availability to Roomex, it will appear on all sites across the network.
  • We have now over 150 hotels taking part in the Roomex.com network.
  • As well as the technical strength of its booking engine, Roomex.com can also be seamlessly integrated on to your own website as your own website booking engine. Eg www.zuni.ie , www.princeofwales.ie .
  • As well as having a significant affiliate network to bring traffic, Roomex.com’s strength lies in it’s advanced search engine optimisation.
  • Roomex.com also advertises online with many online search engines, including Google Adwords, Yahoo Marketing and others.
How does it work for the hotel ?
  • We set you up as a new hotel on Roomex.com , typically taking images and text from your own website.
  • We set up your various room types and offers, eg Double B & B, Single B & B, 2 Night Double B & B 1 Dinner, etc
  • We input your rack rates and initial availability and prices
  • We give you your own log-in area with username and password, which stores all of your orders, room types etc. From this admin area, you can control all rates and availability.
  • Orders can also be copied ( or BCC’ed ) to any number of other email addresses at your request
How much does it cost for the hotel ?
  • Zero set up fee
  • 10% commission, taken as a deposit online.
How does it work online for the person making the booking ?
  • The customer selects his room type and length of stay, for example €100 for one night stay
  • The customer fills in their details and is asked to pay the 10% deposit ( €10 in this example ) together with a €5 booking fee ( customer pays €15 in total ).
  • This deposit and booking fee stays with Roomex, and the customer pays the remaining 90% ( €90 in this example), as normal, when checking in/out at the hotel.
  • Once the deposit and booking fee are paid, an email is sent to the designated hotel email address, and the booking is also stored in the online admin area.
  • The customer is informed of two key aspects:
    • That their deposit and booking fee are non-refundable
    • That if they have any queries or changes in relation to their booking, that they should contact the hotel directly. The hotel’s email address and phone number are released to the customer in their confirmation email, once their booking is complete.
Conditions :
  • The hotel must give us sufficient availability to sell ( including weekends), at competitive rates ( at least as good as their own website rates )
  • If a hotel cannot honour a booking or has oversold availability or has sold at the wrong rate, this is not the responsibility of Roomex.com. In such a case, Deposits and Booking fees will not be refunded to the customer by Roomex.com – this will be the responsibility of the Hotel. It is up to the Hotel to ensure that they keep rates and availability up to date at all times !

We have found that customers will tend to search for at least 3 different prices for your hotel or others in the area and while we may attract the browser to our website, to convert them into business, we must have good rates and availability, including at weekends. Hotels that work with us on this basis are getting strong flows of business. And the more bookings we generate for your hotel, the more we can put into marketing and advertising, generating even more bookings.

If a hotel is seen not to be giving us this availability at the right rates, we will have no choice other than to remove them from the Roomex network. We do not want potential customers coming to our network and either not being able to see availability or seeing only higher rates than elsewhere. This reflects badly on us and the other hotels working with us.

New for 2007 – www.RoomexHotels.com – 20,000 Hotels Worldwide !

During the last quarter of 2006, we launched a new website, www.RoomexHotels.com , a hotel portal that can take orders for over 20,000 hotels worldwide. This portal is connected to the Gullivers Travel Associates ( GTA ) stock in the UK, so if your hotel is already contracted to GTA, we will already have access to your rates and availability, based on what you have already contracted with GTA.

Please note that this is a completely separate website to the www.Roomex.com portal and network and it is still worth your while if you are an Irish hotel to get set up separately on this network. For example, your GTA allocation might have already been sold, yet you might still have availability. This is explained further on the www.Roomex.com home page. 

New Offices 2007 !Since 3rd January 2007, we have moved into our new offices here in Nutgrove Office Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14. We now have 3,000 sq ft here and will allow us to continue our growth going forward.
